Developer accused of asbestos negligence

Developer accused of asbestos negligence
Property developer Dukeminster has been accused of negligence concerning the risk of asbestos exposure at one of its sites.

Exeter city councillor Marcel Choules has criticised the organisation after it apparently leaving asbestos waste exposed at its Old Royal Navy Storage Depot site, Blogger News Network reports.

A local resident first noticed the dangerous substance and notified officials who found it in a large container with its doors open, visible to everybody.

Councillor Choules stated that the substance is dangerous and safety precautions should be in place.

"I am concerned as we know the dangers of asbestos, especially when it is released into the air. There is a potential health risk to residents and obviously the workers themselves," he told the site.

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 is a set of legislative requirements that prohibit the import, supply and use of all forms of the substance and outlines legal measures for handling it.
