East of England 'to have construction safety visits'
February 25, 2009

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will be visiting construction sites in the region from Monday (March 2nd) to check how contractors manage a range of issues, which could interest those considering risk assessment at work training.
Among the concerns to be addressed will be good order on site to prevent slips, trips and falls, safety of those working at height and the management of asbestos removal.
Nicola Surrey, HSE principal inspector of construction, commented: "HSE will continue to target the contractors and principal contractors on those sites who flout health and safety law and come down hard on them where necessary."
The organisation also revealed that its construction inspectors have carried out more than 2,400 refurbishment site inspections across the UK over the past two years and have been forced to taken enforcement action on a third of these visits.
Recently, the HSE entered its second week of inspections in Kent, to ensure that the area's firms are complying with asbestos safety regulations.
