Employee crushed working on rail tracks

A rail employee has been injured in an accident while working on tracks in Warwickshire.
The man is a Network Rail sub-contractor from Carlisle and was crushed in the accident.
He suffered an injury to his foot a spokesperson for the ambulance service describes as "serious" as well as a minor injury to his right arm after being run over.
The representative says the man was sat by the tracks being looked after by colleagues when medical help arrived.
He is currently in hospital and will undergo surgery.
A Network Rail spokesperson notes the section of track was not operational and claims there is no impact on passenger services.
She states: "We understand that a road or rail vehicle was involved."
The accident took place on the West Coast Main Line near Nuneaton, at an area known locally as the Trent Valley Line.
Since 2006, the Office of Rail Regulation has been in charge of health and safety policy enforcement for the railways.
