HSE investigates cherry-picker accident

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched an investigation into a death caused by an accident at a Simons Development construction site, a source says.
An employee operating a cherry picker is believed to have fallen and been crushed between the machine and a girder, Contract Journal reports.
Work was stopped at the Marriotts Close site in Witney so the HSE could investigate the accident.
The Oxford Mail reports a businessman managed to film the incident on his phone but had the recording confiscated as "circumstantial evidence" for the accident.
Alex Blakelock, a spokesperson for Simons Developments, confirms a worker was injured at the site.
She says: "All relevant authorities have been notified and all work on site has ceased, to assist the HSE with their enquiries."
The organisation claims the construction industry is the largest in Britain, employing 2.2 million people, but has one of the highest rate of accidents.
Over 2,800 people have died in the last quarter-century from injuries received while working in the sector.
