Shattered Lives campaign moves to the south-west
The Health and Safety Executive's Shattered Lives campaign, the initiative to highlight the consequences of slips, trips and falls in the workplace has moved to the south-west this week.

Bristol City Council helped to launch the regional campaign, on behalf of local authorities across the South West.

Andy Shaw, HSE inspector, said: "Each year slips, trips and falls cost the British society nearly £811 million pounds - but what these figures don't reflect, is the extent to which these injuries affect individual workers and their families."

Councillor Judith Price, executive member for Neighbourhoods with the Bristol authorities said that in the past year, Public Health Services team had 173 notifications of slips, trips and falls, 115 of which were by employees at work.

HSE's Shattered Lives campaign will offer support and guidance to employers and employees in the construction, building and plant maintenance and food manufacturing and retail industries.

According to the HSE, up to one person every week dies from a slip, trip or fall while accidents of this nature make up almost a third of all injuries reported to the body.
