Six injured in Belfast building collapse
Six construction workers have been injured, five of them seriously, in an accident on a Belfast building site on Monday.

Witnesses to the incident on the Victoria Street site said that a floor gave way during work on the six-storey building, leading some workers to fall as far as 30 feet.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Turkington Construction, which is running the site, are to investigate the accident.

In a statement, Turkington said that it "deeply regrets" what happened.

"We are now working closely with the Health and Safety Executive to investigate the causes of the incident and to ensure the site is secured to the public and our workforce," the company declared.

The building under construction will serve as the home for the Northern Ireland Law Society.

Eyewitness Brendan Collins told the BBC: "It looks like the supports underneath the building gave way, which caused machinery to fall on top of the workers."
