YouTube stunt condemned by HSE
March 20, 2008

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has condemned video footage of a worker being swung around by a digger which appeared on Youtube.
Footage filmed in an oil yard in Peterborough last year shows a worker from Scomi Oiltools undertaking the life-endangering stunt for which he was subsequently dismissed.
According to the company two other workers involved in the prank have also left after the incident was investigated following the internet posting of the video.
A Scomi spokeswoman said: "The company has a stringent safety policy and will not condone irresponsible behaviour of any nature."
The HSE has appealed to all employers and businesses within the construction industry to try and stamp out this sort of behaviour.
Speaking to the BBC, a spokesman said: "These videos show and encourage irresponsible behaviour that could have gone seriously wrong and led to the death or serious injury of their friends and co-workers."
According to the HSE, last year 59 construction workers were killed and many thousands more injured or suffered ill-health.
