Exeter City Council introduces new risk management system
December 12, 2007

As a consequence of the forthcoming introduction of the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act, Exeter City Council has introduced a risk management procedure.
According to reports by Auto Industry, Exeter City Council has introduced the permit-orientated system for the council's vehicle fleet.
Permits are required before a fleet vehicle can be released for use.
"An organisation to which this section applies is guilty of an offence if the way in which its activities are managed or organised causes a person's death, and amounts to a gross breach of a relevant duty of care owed by the organisation to the deceased," states the act.
As part of the permit approval process, a number of verifications need to take place, including the checking of driving licenses, in addition to the querying of driver penalty points.
The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act enters into force in April next year.
