Focus on harmful dust and fumes

Businesses in the Midlands can take advantage of a seminar being held in the area aimed at providing them with information on the elimination of harmful dust and fumes in the workplace, it has been reported.
The event has been organised by SES, the specialist health and safety division of EEF West Midlands, which is a stakeholder partner of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the Birmingham Post claims.
Firms must ensure that harmful fumes, gas or dust is removed from the working environment and failure to do so could lead to prosecution under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations.
SES director Peter Garrett told the news provider companies will be advised as to how the threat from potentially harmful products in the air can be minimised.
"The seminar will focus on the key considerations, such as the right sort of equipment, the best methods of installation, and the training of staff to monitor performance properly," he said.
EEF claims it represents the interests of manufacturing, engineering and technology companies.
