Abercorn Homes pays GBP 23,000

Sunderland magistrates' court has fined a roofing company for failing to adequately minimise the risk for employees.
Abercorn Homes has been fined £6,000 with costs of £17,028 after breaching the regulations governing safety for those working at height.
The prosecution was launched over the results of a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation into a roof at an industrial site at Rainton Bridge.
It found the company had failed to adequately ensure the work was safely conducted.
An inspector for the HSE Michael Brown claims workers were operating at a four-metre height without any protection to prevent falls.
"In addition, a scissor lift had been inappropriately used to gain access to the roof and modified to carry materials," he says.
Pointing out the risk working at height presents employees, Mr Brown says 23 people died in 2006-07 due to inappropriate safety measures.
He says work must be carried out safely, with appropriate supervision.
