Man crushed on industrial site

Man crushed on industrial site
An investigation has been launched by the Health and Safety Executive and police after an elderly man was apparently crushed to death on an industrial estate in Fort William.

The 70-year-old died after becoming caught between two vehicles at Lochaber Aggregates on the site, and the HSE as well as the local authorities are to examine the case, the Press and Journal reports.

A spokesman for the organisation told the news provider its officers will work in cooperation with the police to ascertain what led to the elderly man's death.

"We are aware of the incident and will be investigating. HSE is working jointly with the police and the procurator fiscal service under the work-related death protocol," the representative said.

Lochaber Aggregates supplies construction materials such as quarry products for civil contracts, building works and local trades, the newspaper claims.

Meanwhile, a lorry driver died in an accident at a distribution centre recently, which the HSE is also investigating, the Northampton Chronicle reports.
