The Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation into possible health and safety breaches after a worker was crushed to death at a Sheffield engineering plant.
The man, named Alan Lee Robert Winter according to the Star, was an employee of DavyMarkham and suffered fatal injuries while he was unloading equipment.
According to the newspaper, Mr Winter died after becoming trapped in a six-inch gap between the top of a forklift truck and the roof of a metal container at the firm's plant on Prince of Wales Road in Darnall.
Mr Winter's partner Laurie Swift told the news provider all those close to him are beside themselves with grief over the incident.
"We are all shocked and devastated by Alan's sudden and untimely death," she said.
It is the second incident of an employee in Sheffield losing his life in the workplace after Patrycjusz Handzel suffered 80 per cent burns in an explosion at Transition International, the Sheffield Telegraph reported earlier this month.
