Free online tools make safety easier
January 10, 2008

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) has produced a selection of free online tools which should help improve safety in the work place claims the body.
The tools are expected to make it easier for small-to-medium business enterprises to adhere to their health and safety obligations.
Richard Jones, IOSH's director of technical affairs, said: "By making use of our tools, businesses can get themselves on the right track towards complying with health and safety law."
Safetstartup provides information on basic, safety and environmental and is led by an onscreen robot who guides the user through how to register a business and information on containing hazards.
A risk management tool has also been produced which makes use of work cards, checklists and info cards which help users create their own safety management system.
According to Mr Jones, 241 people died in the UK's workplaces last year and over 140,000 suffered injury.
A further 2.2 million people suffer ill-health they believe was caused or made worse by work.
Meanwhile, the IOSH's latest branch opened in December 2007 in Essex.
