British Red Cross calls for health and safety training for staff
The British Red Cross has called for health and safety training for employees to help them feel more confident in the workplace.

According to research of workers who had undertaken training by the body, everyone who took a health and safety course thought it had contributed to their personal development.

Up to 97 per cent of those questioned said they felt of more value to their employer after they had completed the training.

Anna Brown, head of customer services for Red Cross First Aid Training said that ensuring your employees learn first aid is much more than just complying with your health and safety obligations.

"Encouraging people to learn a life skill, such as first aid, shows your commitment to the employee and also to the well being of the whole team," she said.

Meanwhile, health secretary Alan Johnson said that all organisations must make employee well being a priority in order to achieve a healthy and committed workforce.
