Claims unit set up for Polish workers

Claims unit set up for Polish workers
Polish workers will now be able to receive help with personal injury claims in the workplace after a specialist team has been set up to help them.

Russell Jones and Walker has launched a Polish Claims Unit which includes two Poles, Patricia Westwalewicz and Karolina Bebenek, who are both legally trained.

Richard Geraghty, a personal injury partner, said: "The UK is now home to over 500,000 Polish migrant workers. They need access to justice in the same way as every other citizen does, but language may be a barrier."

He added that migrant workers are often the most exposed to dangers in the workplace as many are employed in the retail, construction and agriculture sectors.

"Sadly, it’s often these sectors where employers don’t have proper regard for employee safety," he concluded.

The firm has also created Polish content for its website and set up a dedicated freephone line and email address.
