Crane action group make plea to Lord
January 23, 2008

The Battersea Crane Disaster Action Group (BCDAG) has made a plea to Lord McKenzie to create a national register for all cranes used in the UK.
BCDAG met the parliamentary under-secretary for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) to discuss its submission for an enquiry into health and safety provision.
The organisation is calling for spot checks on all major construction sites and injuries sustained in the workplace by employees within the construction industry.
Its submission has been sent to the DWP as part of the select committee enquiry into the workings of the Health and Safety Executive and Health and Safety Commission.
The BCDAG was formed by local residents after a crane collapsed on a Barratts construction site in September 2006 and killed two workers.
The group claim no one has taken responsibility for the deaths of the two workers and are fighting for subsequent changes in legislation.
