Ealing council backs national campaign
October 21, 2008

Another local authority has joined with the Health and Safety Executive's (HSE's) efforts to combat misconceptions about the role of regulations in the workplace.
The organisation's regional director for London, Stephen Williams, says the Ealing area has experienced 479 workplace injuries which have required employees to take more than three days off and 99 'major' incidents.
He says the council wants to focus employers in the region on the real risks health and safety violations cause and to help protect people.
"Together we can embed these principles into our working culture and embrace and practice the principles of sensible risk management," Mr Williams states.
Chief executive for Ealing council Darra Singh describes the protection of the area's workers as "a crucial issue for us" and identifies the "health and safety gone mad" stories as obstructing this effort.
Earlier this month, Essex councils also signed up to the myth-busting campaign, signing an agreement entitled Ten Principles of Sensible Risk Management.
