Health and safety advice available for Milton Keynes' businesses
February 28, 2008

Milton Keynes council is joining forces with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to offer health and safety advice to small businesses.
The MK Healthy Workplaces advisory session takes place today (February 28th) with health and safety experts providing information on topics from managing sickness absences to helping employers ensure their business is a safe working environment.
Philip Winsor, Milton Keynes Council's chief environmental health officer, welcomed the occurrence of the session, saying his divisions were "pleased to be working with their HSE colleagues on this interesting project".
"Milton Keynes was chosen from the South East area as its main employment areas are within the discrete area of the new town boundary. It has a high percentage of small businesses that are growing in a dynamic and expanding area," he added.
According to the HSE, injuries at work and ill health cost businesses in the UK up to 36 million lost days and billions of pounds during 2006 and 2007.
