Safety regulation amendments revealed

Safety regulation amendments revealed
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has revealed details on forthcoming health and safety regulations.

According to Norwich Union Risk Services, the HSE has confirmed three amendments will be made to existing legislation from April next year, while the Second Adaptation to Technical Progress to the Dangerous Preparations Directive will come into force this October.

From April 2009 the Health and Safety Information (Amendment) Regulations will allow the body to approve and publish new posters and leaflets which do not require the addition of enforcing authority and Employment Medical Advisory Service contact information, the news provider reports.

In addition, the Factories Act 1961 and Offices, Shops and Railways Premises Act 1963 (Repeals and Modifications) Regulations will cut the amount of bureaucracy currently imposed on firms.

The final change will be to the Health and Safety (Miscellaneous Amendments and Revocations) Regulations which will seek to tighten the laws governing the manufacture and storage of explosive, the publication claims.

According to the HSE, its mission is to protect people's wellbeing by ensuring risks in the changing workplace are properly controlled.
