Conference on safety for food manufacturers

September 24, 2008

Conference on safety for food manufacturers
A health and safety promotional event is being held to raise awareness of concerns in the food and drink manufacturing industry.

The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is hosting the conference, which will feature speakers from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as well as industry and union figures.

Its goal is to further reduce the number of incidents occurring in company workplaces, which IOSH claims has already halved since 1990.

"There's still much more to be done," the organisation claims.

Among the topics covered at the conference will be health and safety advice on machines, manual handling and company director's responsibility for accidents on site.

Working with the organisation will be the Food and Drink Manufacture Health and Safety Forum.

The event will take place at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool and will include an awards ceremony.

In related news, the HSE is holding a Working at Height Roadshow in Erith to improve safety precautions in the construction industry. ADNFCR-1336-ID-18795062-ADNFCR
