Health and safety agriculture day to be held in Cumbria

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has announced that it is to hold an agriculture safety awareness day in Cumbria by on March 27th.
According to the body, two half day sessions will take place at Ulverston Auction Mart, North Lonsdale Terrace in Ulverston starting at 08.30 GMT and 12.45 GMT respectively.
The sessions are expected to covering a range of topics including manual handling, animal handling, ATVs, maintenance and hydraulics including power take offs, workplace transport and fragile roofs and working at height.
Andy Gay, HM principal inspector of Health and Safety for Agriculture in the North West, said: "These sessions provide vital updates to farmers about the current working practices and health and safety precautions they should be following to ensure they, their families and their employees can stay safe on the farm."
The HSE figures reveal that there have been up to six fatalities on farms in the north-west over the past year.
