HSE investigates garden centre accident
August 28, 2008

An investigation is being launched by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) into the circumstances surrounding a worker's death during an accident on a construction site, a source says.
The man was unloading a vehicle at Simpsons Garden Centre in Inverness when he died, reports the Press and Journal.
He was removing steel from a lorry and was crushed by it.
Talking to the newspaper, a spokesman for the HSE claims it is possible the man had died from natural causes, but says it is treating the incident as "an industrial accident".
"It occurred during the unloading of a lorry on the construction site at the garden centre. The investigation is ongoing which we are carrying out alongside the police."
The Press and Journal reports the man was working on a building site at the centre, which is undergoing a £1.5 million expansion, when the accident took place.
According to HSE statistics, the construction industry is the UK's biggest sector, employing over 2.2 million people and is also held to be one of the most dangerous.
