HSE launches back pain campaign

HSE launches back pain campaign
Back pain is being targeted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as part of an initiative to cut down on the number of issues this presents.

These problems are among the most common of occupational health and safety problems and a seminar has been held in the Llandrindod Wells to inform firms what measures can be taken to reduce this.

It has been run in conjunction with Powys county council and intends to educate employers what steps can be taken to manage and prevent back disorders becoming an issue in their workplaces.

HSE ergonomist Simon Monnington claims implementing risk assessments can work to discover the potential problem areas and allow companies to tackle these.

"Employers need to sort out the problems that have the most impact first, and it is vital to ensure that they work with the employees to arrive at solutions," he claims.

Better Backs, a HSE campaign which finished earlier this year, also promoted this area of health and safety concern.ADNFCR-1336-ID-18849153-ADNFCR
