Balcas Timber receives health and safety award
November 20, 2008

A supplier has been given recognition for its health and safety practices at a London awards ceremony.
Enniskillen-based Balcas Timber has received the Five Star Health and Safety Audit Award due to the lengths it has gone to minimise the risks working environments present.
Among the attendees at the ceremony held in Ironmongers' Hall last month were a number of top names in the industry.
Brian Nimick, the chief executive of the British Safety Council, says: "It not only makes sense to have the safest workplace possible, but it also boosts the morale of employees."
He continues to emphasise the strong benefits to company image that firms which develop a first-class health and safety culture obtain.
In June of this year, the company was given a Four Star Health and Safety Audit Award and was issued an action plan on how to improve its conditions and reach the highest level.
The firm's health, safety and environment manager Tom Stephenson claims it the accolade is due to "hard work" put in from every one of its employees.
