The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the Scottish Trade Union Centre (STUC) and the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives (SCHWL) are inviting community organisations in Edinburgh to update their health and safety procedures by attending a free event.
Charities, voluntary bodies and their employees will be given assistance and guidance on workplace safety on topics such as risk assessment and legislation; the purpose of having a safety policy; worker's rights and the role of trade unions.
Speakers will include professionals from the HSE, SCHWL and STUC and those interested can also take advantage of free online safety training which is available in conjunction with Stow College.
The event will take place on Monday June 30th at Norton Park in Edinburgh and delegates will be provided with food during the two-hour presentation, which begins at 11:00BST.
In 2006/07 199,000 people in Scotland suffered from an illness which they believe was caused or made worse by their current or past work.
