HSE holds event for Scotland's migrant workers
October 9, 2008

A free workshop is being held in Alloa for migrant workers operating in central Scotland.
The Citizen's Advice Bureau, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Unite and Clackmannanshire Council are working together to educate workers on the legal rights and health and safety precautions employers must take.
Your Rights, Your Safety will contain information on employment rights, obligations on companies to provide health and safety equipment and precautions and how unions operate.
HSE health and safety awareness officer Val Holland claims the event will give migrant workers the opportunity to have their questions answered.
"Whether in full time or temporary casual employment [they] are entitled to work in a safe and fair working environment," she states.
She adds: "[There is] protection for overseas workers whether they are working here legally or not."
Your Rights, Your Safety is being held at Gean House in Alloa at 18:00 BST on October 9th.
The HSE offers advice to those employing migrant workers on good practise and legal responsibilities.
