HSE targets Cumbrian firms
June 23, 2008

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is to attend a number of Cumbrian Business Advice Open Days at the beginning of next month to highlight the organisation's work to help them keep employees safe.
David Ashton, HSE regional director, said businesses will be told about basic health and safety guidelines and what they can expect should an inspector from the body calls at their premises.
The seminars begin on July 1st at Abbey House in Barrow and are part of a nationwide series launched by HM Revenue and Customs to provide advice and support on a range of business related matters.
"HSE is one of a number of government departments taking part in the short events in Barrow, Workington and Carlisle where we will give businesses a concise explanation about the work we do to help them ensure their staff remain healthy and safe at work," Mr Ashton said.
Earlier this year, the HSE and the Health and Safety Commission merged to form a single-regulatory body responsible for promoting the cause of better health and safety in the workplace.
