HSE to hold construction health and safety event
September 18, 2008

A health and safety event is to be held at Carlisle United Football Club for Cumbrian construction workers.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is organising the day as part of the Working Well Together campaign and aims to raise awareness of good practice.
It will involve demonstrations of equipment and advice on conducting risk assessments in the workplace.
Dave Charnock, an HSE construction inspector, says the day is one of a series being held across Britain.
He states large construction companies have sponsored the event so smaller industry firms will be able to get advice and guidance for free.
"Many who have accidents in the industry are working for themselves or working for a small business," he says.
Describing the events goal, he claims it is to raise the profile of key issues affecting health and safety on construction sites, offering advice on how to avoid and minimise these.
The HSE has held similar days at Haydock Park and Stoke-on-Trent.
