Cafe backs Shattered Lives campaign
March 30, 2009

The Twin City Cafe, which is based in Dundee, is backing the watchdog's Shattered Lives initiative and invited environmental health inspectors from the city council to look at their safety precautions.
Mrs Taha, one of the restaurant's owners, said she chose to support the scheme to encourage others in the food and drinks sector to better look after their workers.
Alastair McGowan, of the HSE, added: "We want to get people thinking about how these incidents happen and how they can be easily avoided. It's usually about taking common sense actions and precautions at little or no cost."
He also highlighted that the accidents can result in major injuries, time absent from work, disability and even death, which may concern those thinking of slips, trips and falls training.
Last week, Teeside restaurant firm Barnacles pledged its support to the Shattered Lives scheme and invited Stockton Council's Environmental Health Unit to give a talk to its staff.
