Contracted worker killed

An investigation is underway after a contracted rail worker died near a railway bridge at Brigg, south Humberside, it has been reported.
The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the incident which took place last week, according to Thisisscunthorpe.co.uk.
Reports claim the man was working for AMCO, Amalgamated Construction, a building firm which operates in the mining and engineering sectors.
A police spokeswoman confirmed the man's injuries were fatal and work was underway to try and establish the facts of the case.
"Police are now working with the Health and Safety Executive in order to establish the cause of the incident," the news provider reports her as saying.
According to the HSE, 241 people died in the workplace in 2006/7, representing a rate of fatal injury of 0.80 per 100,000 workers.
Of the main industrial sectors, construction has the highest total of fatal injuries, accounting for around 31 per cent of workplace deaths.
