HSE illuminates safety issues in the night-time economy
The night-time economy of the south-west will be the target of Health and Safety Executive (HSE) plans to improve health and safety conditions.

In conjunction with Environmental Health organisations, the HSE will seek to raise the awareness of issues arising from slips, trips and falls, working at height and supervision.

Enforcement action has been threatened for those companies which are not complying with health and safety regulations.

David Cowley, an inspector with the HSE, warns the organisation "will not hesitate to challenge" companies which are putting their workers at risk.

"The inspection 'blitz' should give both us and the local authorities a good overview of the health and safety standards in the night-time economy across the region," he claims.

He states the results of the initiative will guide the organisation's approach to the area and will help it secure improvements to working conditions.

More than 3.5 million people are involved in shift work in the UK, spanning sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing and retail.ADNFCR-1336-ID-18816983-ADNFCR
