NHS Trust backs HSE campaign

March 27, 2009

NHS Trust backs HSE campaign
An NHS Foundation in the north of England has backed the Shattered Lives campaign, to raise awareness of slips, trips and falls.

The County Durham and Darlington trust has put its name to the scheme, which aims to promote slips, trips and falls training to reduce the number of incidents.

Pam Waldron, head of operations for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which created the campaign, says: "Simple measures introduced by businesses can make a positive difference."

The expert adds that reducing the number of incidents just takes common sense and "little or no cost".

Chris Rooney, head of non-clinical risk at the foundation trust, says the organisation "looks at all staff falls with appropriate actions".

He adds that the hospital also keep statistics on all slips, trips and falls to ensure they monitor levels of accidents and work to improve staff and patient safety.

A doctor from the NHS Foundation Trust in Lambeth has also backed the campaign, with Dr David Snashall saying it is particularly important in London, as the city has a high concentration of health service workers.ADNFCR-1336-ID-19095897-ADNFCR
