NHS trust backs Shattered Lives
April 1, 2009

NHS Grampian has lent its support to the organisation's Shattered Lives campaign, which is aiming to reduce the incidents and may be relevant to those considering slips, trips and falls training.
The HSE revealed that around 5.1 million working days were lost in the health and social work industry over 2007/8 because of ill-health or injuries, which, at 1.9 days per worker, is higher than the average for other industries.
Dr Pauline Strachan, deputy medical director for NHS Grampian, commented: "Trips and falls affect not only employees and employers, but also emergency and other health services, and any measures which can be taken to reduce numbers would be welcomed by the NHS."
She also revealed that the organisation has introduced a series of measures to reduce the numbers of people injured through slips, trips and falls.
Last week, County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust also pledged its support to the Shattered Lives drive.
