Staff concerned over health and safety

Staff concerned over health and safety
New research has found that staff are worried that their health and safety is not a high enough priority for their bosses.

A YouGov survey, commissioned by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), found that only seven per cent of employees believed that workplace safety was their bosses' top concern.

Over 30 per cent felt that keeping clients and customers happy was what concerned employers most, while 23 per cent claimed making money was their main worry.

Ray Hurst, president of IOSH, said the research suggests that there are still bosses who do not understand the consequences of serious accidents.

"These workers views suggest that there's still a minority of employers out there who simply don't give a damn about their staff. There are still some who still think it's okay to cut corners and put their staff at risk, and that's not acceptable."

IOSH is the leading body for health and safety professionals in Europe.
