Depression 'increase with bad office spirit'
April 9, 2009

Research published in the Occupational and Environmental Medicine journal found that people who believe there is a poor atmosphere at work are 60 per cent more likely to suffer from the condition.
In addition, there is a 50 per cent greater chance that they will be taking anti-depressants.
The study authors also called for employers to pay more attention to the mental health of their workers, after they noted that depression and anxiety are common in the working population.
In carrying out the survey, researchers quizzed 3,000 people about the working environment, access to health services, living arrangements and social lives.
Earlier this month, a study from the University of Bolton discovered that employees are increasingly taking out stress in the workplace on their computers.
Psychologists found that the majority of people get angry with office equipment three or four times a month.
