December 6, 2007

The UK's Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published fresh guidelines on workplace stress-management, it has emerged.
Published last month and dubbed Managing the causes of work-related stress, the HSE guide offers a step-by-step approach to stress management in an effort to minimise the consequences of its effects in the workplace.
In general, stress can be management with the assistance of a number of different techniques, including meditation, progressive relaxation and exercise.
"Work-related stress is a major cause of occupational ill health, poor productivity and human error," said the HSE.
"That means increased sickness absence, high staff turnover, poor performance in your organisation and a possible increase in accidents due to human error," it added.
The HSE's stress management guide was created with the use of Management Standards, which address issues such as working environments and patterns of employment.
