Party season 'lowers stress at work'
December 14, 2007

Holiday season winding down will lead to reduced productivity and stress, it has been claimed.
According to reports by the Telegraph, a study by Teletext Holidays has found that as of 17:00 GMT today, out of every three employees, one will mentally disengage from work and decrease performance over the course of next week.
The reduction in stress levels is perhaps a blessing as, according to the Health and Safety Executive, approximately 30.2 days of work are lost for each new case of illness caused as a result of work-induced anxiety, depression or stress.
The results of the study are based upon the responses of over 2,500 employees.
"This time of year is usually marked by a drop in the levels of intensity and productivity in the office, as the effects of trying to burn the candle at both ends and a dismal summer take their toll," said Matt Cheevers, managing director of Teletext Holidays.
"We're seeing an upsurge in people booking New Year breaks," he added.
The survey also found that the productivity downturn is most likely to affect those in London.
