Construction safety training day held in Colwyn Bay
November 14, 2008

A construction safety event has been held in Colwyn Bay to highlight issues which affect workers in the sector.
Organised by the Working Well Together group, it was attended by 140 delegates representing various businesses from the industry.
Among the areas tackled were the precautions necessary when employees are working at height, dealing with asbestos and the importance of risk assessments.
Health and Safety Executive inspector for construction Debbie John described the event as offering practical advice in an informal environment.
"Clearly a comparatively small investment in assessing and managing risks can pay dividends in terms of delivering projects on time and averting possible enforcement action," she claims.
The inspector states the cost of injuries for employers include delays, financial outlay and the risk of prosecution.
In recent related news, a safety training day has been held at Thirsk Racecourse for agricultural workers, highlighting issues arising from manual handling, working at height and the control of dangerous substances.
